PostSubject: confirmation of Kelvedon nuclear bunker   Mon Jan 25, 2010 11:36 am

Hi Guys

Some good news , we have been given the go ahead to conduct an investigation at the Kelvedon hatch secret nuclear bunker which is situated in East Sussex .

Kelvedon Nuclear Bunker

The bunker started life as an RAF rotor station and then became a civil defence center before becoming regional government HQ and was capable of housing up to 600 civillian and military personnel and even the prime minister of Great Britain , the bunker would have been used in the event of a nuclear attack and was capable of with standing an nuclear blast.

There have been reports of full bodied apparitions being seen in the tunnels and plotting room , strange voices that have been heard in the tunnels and even reports of people being touched , so alll in all it sounds like it could be an interesting place to visit .

i will be arranging a date for us to go and have a look at the bunker , and then hopefully we can arrange a date for a public investigation .

i will keep you all posted

ian

Sounds like a great location. Out of curiosity, how many people have actually used it over the years?

The place was capable of holding and sleeping up to 600 military and civillian members of staff and was fitted out with accomadation for the prime minister and his cabinet , the place even had its own BBC studio , would be awesome to livestream an investigation using that .

Yeah it does sound like a great place!

What I was getting at was, for judging potential hauntings, how many people have had the opportunity to develop strong emotional ties with the place, or died in it etc since it was first built... seems like an odd place to find anybody if you ask me, but then again who knows who might like to lurk in the deep and dark underground places...

Hi Robb

we dont know how many people left their lives there during the construction or during any other times , it was a military installation so alot of details have been withheld or kept secret over the years , we are just going by what other people and other groups have reported , there have been reportings of apparitions being seen in the tunnels and some of the rooms that are still being used as part of the museum , there have also been reports of disembodied voices being heard in different parts of the complex together with the usual light anomalys and orbs.

Which makes it an interesting place to visit , i think that there was also an episode of Most haunted filmed there, so there are people that think its worth investigating .

regards
ian

Hi Guys

Just thought I would give you all some information on the bunker, so you get a
taste of what we are dealing with.

Brief History

The Kelvedon Hatch bunker was built between 1952-1953 and its purpose was
to be part of the British RAF rotor system (A programme to improve and harden
Britain's air defence network in case of nuclear attack).

The bunker was a hardened (three level 'R4') Sector Operations Centre (SOC) for
RAF Fighter Command. It was to provide command and control of the London Sector
of Fighter Command. During the 1960s, 70s, 80s and early into the 1990s the UK
government (Home Office) maintained the bunker (at great expense) as an
emergency regional government defence site , which would also accommodate the
Prime minister and his cabinet in the case of a nuclear attack .

The bunker is built 38m underground and the only buildings visible is a small
bungalow which conceals a big secret, once inside the bungalow (RAF Rotor guard
house) you enter 91m long entrance tunnel which brings you to the lowest level
of three , above that you another level known as the hill and then then
transmission mast level .

The bunker was able to accommodate up to 600 military and civilian personnel
and was able to sustain them for up to 3 months using its own Aircon, power
generators, and water supply which was pumped from a deep bore hole, the
complex was protected by a series of different military systems such as MOULD,
CONRAD and Protected EMP Telecommunications.

In 1992 the bunker was no longer needed by the government so it was sold back
to the original owner at a fair price, who then renovated the complex and
turned it into a museum as it is today.

There are many stories about hauntings in the bunker, here are some of the more
interesting ones.

Sick Bay

There have been reports of a mysterious black shadow that
moves through the sickbay area, some people think that this could be a sort
demonic entity waiting for the chance to spread it’s feeling of pain and dread
to unsuspecting visitors, this activity has been known to be so strong at times
that some people has refused to enter the area.

Main control room

There have been many reports of a grey figure moving through
the room catching people off guard and has given a lot of people the feeling
that it’s a menacing entity .

The entrance tunnel

There have been reports of two entities in this 91m long
tunnel, one is of an RAF officer in uniform that moves along the tunnel and has
been seen by a few people and the other is of another figure that is sometimes
seen at the end of the tunnel, but always seems to be just out of shot of any
of the cameras that have been positioned in the tunnels by previous groups.

Low level stairwell

On a few people has described being engulfed by a darkness
that seems to come up through the stairwell , they have described it as being
so dark that it has been difficult to see even when the lights are on , also
giving people the feeling of pain and sadness .

These will all be areas of the bunker that we will be
monitoring during our investigation , due to the fact that we will have 2 DVR
systems with all together 9 cameras at our disposal , will enable us to work on
different levels at the same time with the most effective coverage .

Thanks for reading

Ian
